Satellite control centers have typically been custom built to meet specific customer requirements. Engineers at Loral AeroSys are creating a general purpose system for assembling individual control centers. This system is called the Reconfigurable Operations Control Center (ROCC). The ROCC approach is to develop an architectural framework that supports the domain of satellite control centers. We then develop a library of reusable components that 'plug into' the framework using standard interfaces. This domain-specific architecture supports composing control center applications from the desired reusable components, tailored for that application. Using domain-specific architectures leads to shorter development time. The ROCC technology solution results in reducing development, operations and maintenance costs, and improving reliability.
