An investigation of spray interaction with large-scale eddies
Abstract
In the present investigation of the interaction of a polydispersed particle field's interaction with a turbulent wake flow, phase-Doppler particle analyzer measurements of spray drop size are presented as vector plots for the different drop size classes; attention is given to the response of the drops to the large-scale eddies shed by the cylinder. Particle response correlations are evaluated for their reliability in estimating the response of the various drop sizes. The results obtained are in agreement with particle-response analyses.
