Analog Photonics
Abstract
The conference proceedings on analog photonics discuss three topics: communications, pattern recognition, and signal processing. Papers are presented on optical pulse-train amplitude encoding using a fiber interferometer, interferometric modulators for an adaptive nulling system, phased-array-antenna control using liquid crystals, optical prefiltering in subcarrier systems, and undamped propagation of photons in optical fibers. Particular attention is given to feature-based correlation filters for object recognition, multichannel imaging using diffractive optics, and optical image analysis using fractal techniques. Other papers presented include those on artificial long-delay optical processor, a CdTe-InSb nonlinear etalon switch, an acoustic-optic programmable delay line using laser diodes, the wideband operation of a photorefractive-based adaptive processor, and adjustable microwave filters using fiber optic delay lines.
