A search for cool carbon stars. VI. Monoceros (l ≡ 210°) region.
Abstract
A search for cool carbon stars has been consecutively made using the 4° prism spectra of the Kiso 105-cm Schmidt telescope. The surveyed area in this paper is the 230 square-degree area in the Monoceros region (l = 198° to 215°, b = -8° to +15°). The authors detect 135 cool carbon stars on the prism plates, and present the celestial position, V magnitude, and the finding chart of them derived from V-band plates. Of all stars detected in their list, 89 and 101 are respectively identified with Stephenson's (1989) carbon stars and with IRAS sources. The distribution and the variability of cool carbon stars are briefly discussed.
