The 8Li(n, gamma ) 9Li and 8B(p, gamma ) 9C Mirror Reactions in a Microscopic Cluster Model
Abstract
The Li8(n, gamma)Li9 and B8(p, gamma)C9 cross sections are calculated in a microscopic cluster model, taking an exact account of the Pauli principle. The interest for a simultaneous description of the mirror reactions is emphasized, and the reliability of the crosssections is analyzed through the calculation of some experimentally known Li9 and C9 spectroscopic properties. The theoretical reaction rates are found lower than the currently accepted values. Consequences for cosmological nucleosynthesis are briefly discussed.
