Infrared Observations of the Recurrent Novae V745 SCO and V3890 SGR
Abstract
Spectral and photometric IR observations of two recurrent novae indicate that these objects, V745 Sco and V3890 have late-type giant stars in their systems. The outburst luminosities of both novae were similar to the Eddington luminosity for a 1.35 solar mass white dwarf. Attention is also given to K-band spectroscopy of T CRB and RS Oph. It is proposed that weak CO emission, perhaps from an accretion disk, is present in the latter system, thereby veiling the photospheric CO features of the red giant.
