Wolf-Rayet nuclei of planetary nebulae. Observations and classification.
Abstract
The paper presents the results of an observational study of emission-line central stars of planetary nebulae (CSPN). Stellar emission lines have been detected for 77 objects. 39 CSPN have been classified as WR (17 for the first time), and 38 as "weak emission-lines CSPN" (18 for the first time). The study confirms earlier findings that, i) unlike the Population I WR stars, the bulk of (if not all) the WR-type CSPN show WC spectra, and ii) the WC CSPN mostly populate subclasses WC 3-4 and WC 9-11 whereas the Population I WC stars concentrate within WC 5-9.
