Radio continuum observations of southern planetary nebulae candidates.
Abstract
We report on radio continuum observations of unidentified IRAS point sources with far IR colors that are typical of planetary nebulae. These planetary nebulae candidates are located outside the Galactic bulge and observable from the southern hemisphere. The IR and radio properties of the observed and detected planetary nebulae candidates are discussed. We have detected 18 new planetary nebulae out of 89 observed candidates. These seem to belong to the class of small, radio-bright planetary nebulae with IR excess, primarily found within a few degrees of the Galactic plane. They appear to be quite young planetaries.
