Ridge belts on plains.
Abstract
Within the area surveyed by Venera 15/16 the volcanic plains contain many ridge belts. They resemble the mountain ridge systems surrounding the Lakshmi structure and the ridge systems encircling typical coronae. At first they were interpreted as belts of compressional deformation. Later structures have been found favoring their origin by extensional deformation.
