Inner heliosphere observations of MHD turbulence in the solar wind - Challenges to theory
Abstract
Mechanisms for the Alfvenic turbulence that has been noted at 1 AU are not fully understood, but local turbulence-generation phenomena are suggested by theory to be essential to such a process. Attention is presently given to a comparison of Helios observations with theoretical predictions concerning local MHD turbulence generation and evolution. Attention is given to the roles of the inner heliosphere and solar cycle minimum, the stream structure, and large-scale Alfvenicity.
