Deformation analysis of welded joints
Abstract
A strength calculation model for welded joints is presented. The model takes structural properties into consideration. Numerical parameters and their influence on calculation results were examined. Principles of finite element calculations were presented for an elastic-plastic analysis of welded joints. Experimental methods were developed for obtaining material characteristic values of different structural areas in heat affected zones and for evaluation of geometric distribution of these values. A process for fully automated determination of structural inhomogeneities in welded joints was presented. Measuring processes for dilatation and displacement were depicted. Comparison of calculation and measurement results show that the finite element method gives high spatial resolution values of position stress and strain.
