Element Mixing in a Stellar Interior by the Balbus-Hawley Mechanism
Abstract
Recently, a powerful local instability of differentially rotating magnetic accretion disks was presented by Balbus and Hawley. This should also be effective as a process of the element mixing which is required to explain the evolution of some kind of stars, like the progenitor of SN 1987A.
