The problem of body motion in a medium with resistance
Abstract
A model version of the interaction of a body with a resistant medium is analyzed in qualitative terms. For plane parallel motion, the case of the constant velocity of the center of mass is considered in detail. The existence of nonisolated periodic solutions, absence of limiting cycles, and transcendental integrability are proved. The necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for the expression of the integral in terms of elementary functions.
