Elemental abundance analysis with DAO spectrograms. X. The mercury-manganese stars pi1 Bootis, upsilon HER and HR 7361.
Abstract
This paper presents fine analyses of three sharp-lined mercury-manganese stars: Pi(1) Bootis, Upsilon Herculis and HR 7361. The most Hg-rich among the 12 HgMn stars studied in this series is Pi(1) Boo. Both it and Upsilon Her are Fe- and Ni-poor. The greatest P and Mn overabundances seen in the HgMn stars occur in Hr 7361; this is also the most S-poor and one of the few Ca- and Xe-rich HgMn stars. Some correlations are found between the consistently analyzed abundances for the 12 stars. These correlations are expected if radiative diffusive processes are operating.
