IC 2006, an elliptical galaxy with a polar ring.
Abstract
The galaxy IC 2006 is surrounded by a ring, the gases in the ring rotating in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the galaxy's stellar body. This peculiarity is explained easily if it is assumed that the ring lies in the polar plane. The parameters of the ring were determined. It was found that the ring should have an elliptical form.
