Sublimation studies of NpF4
Abstract
The sublimation reaction NpF4(s) = NpF4(g) was measured over the range 820-980 K using Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry. The ionization potential of NpF4(g) is 10.4 +/-0.3 eV. The enthalpy of sublimation from second law analysis is 288.1+/-10.0 kJ mol-1, while the second law entropy of sublimation is 199.1+/-11.0 J K-1 mol-1, both at 298 K. The calculated enthalpy of formation of NpF4(g) is -1585.9+/-17.0 kJ mol-1 and the entropy is 351.8+/-12.0 J K-1 mol-1 at 298 K.
