Precise transfer matrix formulae considering axial forces
Abstract
Two precise transfer matrix formulas of different forms for the analysis of shaft element with constant section parameters are derived, taking axial forces and shearing deformation into account. Both formulas are applied to a practical example. A comparison between calculation results and experimental data shows that the formulas are highly accurate and that considerable axial forces have a nonnegligible effect on the dynamic properties of rotor-based system. The presented formulas not only extend the application of the transfer matrix method, but also provide a convenient approach for solving specific engineering problems in dynamic analysis of rotor-based systems.
