Supernova 1992I in NGC 2565
Abstract
C. Pollas, Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur, reports the discovery by Christian Buil, on CCD frames obtained Feb. 29.93 UT with a 0.50-m reflector at Toulouse, of an apparent supernova (mag about 18) in NGC 2565 = Markarian 386. A Tech Pan exposure taken by Pollas on Mar. 1.0 UT has a limiting magnitude similar to that of the Palomar Sky Survey prints, which show no object at the position of SN 1992I, measured by Pollas as R.A. = 8h16m50s.21, Decl. = +22 11'28".5 (equinox 1950.0), or 28".5 west and 7".1 north of the galaxy's center. A bright star near the galaxy's nucleus has end figures 52s.68, 10".5.
