The threshold magnetic field effect in YBa2Cu3O(7-x) single crystals
Abstract
A study of the electrical resistance of YBa2Cu3O(7-x) single crystals (Tc = 90.2 K; Delta Tc = 0.2 K) in a magnetic field has revealed a new phenomenon whereby two different states are observed depending on the intensity of the applied field. The two states are characterized by largely different superconducting transition curves and normal state resistances. The transition from one state to the other is discontinuous and occurs at a certain threshold value of the applied magnetic field.
