Nonlinear response of the atmosphere to a pulse disturbance
Abstract
The generation, in the earth atmosphere, of large-scale oscillations caused by explosion-type disturbances is examined by investigating the qualitative pattern of the flow arising in the atmosphere in the framework of a one-dimensional problem of an initially disturbed atmospheric layer. Then, as a more realistic example, a two-dimensional problem of a 1-ton-charge explosion at an altitude of 100 to 200 km is considered.
