Compact amplifier integration in square patch antenna
Abstract
A packaged microwave bipolar transistor has been integrated directly onto a rectangular microstrip patch to obtain extra power gain and to reduce power losses. The radiating element geometry has been modified to incorporate the active devices. This active antenna uses a small number of components and take the same place as a passive antenna. An extra gain of 8dB is obtained at 1-68GHz.
