Analytical determination of critical Reynolds numbers for periodic viscous gas flows
Abstract
The paper treats long-wave instability of a periodic unidirectional 2D viscous gas flow. An exact value of the critical Reynolds number Rc associated with zero wave number is obtained for such a flow. A model of constant transport coefficients is considered. For small Mach numbers M the stability threshold Rc = Rc (M) is shown to be an increasing function of M.
