Studies on the response of a square plate with variable thickness excited by uniformly distributed load
Abstract
A parametric study is conducted of the effects of thickness variations in a plate on its responses to a uniformly distributed harmonic load. The vibration response is analyzed by means of a 2D plate with four nodes per element and three DOF per node. The boundary conditions include: (1) clamped at all edges; (2) simply supported at all edges; and (3) clamped at one edge, and comparisons are made to similar results for plates with uniform thicknesses.
