Wind regime of the lower thermosphere according to data from meteor radar measurements over southeastern Europe
Abstract
Consideration is given to the seasonal variations of the mean monthly values of the wind parameters in the lower thermosphere obtained by means of the meteor radar station (MRS) operating in Jambol, Bulgaria, as well as to some features of the diurnal variations of these parameters obtained during the period April 1989-August 1990. The results are compared with analogous ones from the stations in Dushanbe and Obninsk, as well as with empirical models of zonal circulation and numerical models of tides at heights of 70 to 100 km. The good agreement between them shows that the data obtained from the MRS reflect the actual dynamical picture of the lower thermosphere.
