A catalogue of [Fe/H] determinations: 1991 edition.
Abstract
A new version of the Catalogue of [Fe/H] determinations published by G. Cayrel et al. (1985) is presented. The 1991-Catalogue contains: 3252 [Fe/H] - determinations for: 1676 stars. The literature is complete up to December 1990. The Catalogue includes only [Fe/H] determinations obtained from high resolution spectroscopic observations based on detailed spectroscopic analyses, most of them carried out with model-atmospheres. A radical change in the accuracy of [Fe/H] determinations occurred in 1978 with the use of solid state detectors instead of photographic plates. Furthermore, the use of powerful telescopes of the 4 m class, combined with very sensitive solid state detectors, has enabled spectroscopists to observe faint stars belonging to distant star-clusters and even to the Magellanic Clouds. As a result, the Catalogue now contains a good number of [Fe/H] determinations for stars from open and globular clusters, and for some supergiants in the Magellanic Clouds. The Catalogue can also be obtained on magnetic tape from the Centre de Données Stellaires of Strasbourg.
