Resonant asteroids and the equivalence principle
Abstract
A new verification of the principle of equivalence through the motion of asteroids in 2-1 resonance with Jupiter is proposed. It is shown that radar ranging in these asteroids can be used to test for the Nordtvedt effect with an accuracy better than the one obtained with lunar laser ranging. The possibility of using optical observations is also analyzed.
