Hydrodynamics of encounters between star clusters and molecular clouds. I - Code validation and preliminary results. II -Limits on cluster lifetimes
Abstract
A computer program designed to investigate mixed systems containing both stars and gas has been tested. The hydrodynamics part of the code is based on a 3D Lagrangian algorithm, while the stellar dynamics and self-gravity parts are based on a high-order direct summation code. In addition, close encounters between star clusters and initially spherical molecular clouds in the Galactic plane have been investigated numerically. The full hydrodynamics of the cloud as well as the stellar dynamics of the cluster are included.
