Design methodology of 3-D woven structures
Abstract
The status of a novel computer-aided design methodology for three-dimensional woven fabrics is reviewed in this paper. With this design tool, the 3D woven preform can be designed directly on a computer screen where in three-dimensional representations of the yarns within the fabric are transformed directly into weaving patterns. At the same time, physical properties, such as fiber architecture, intrinsic fiber volume fraction, fabric thickness and yarn angles are predicted for structural analysis.
