Numerical analysis on compressible flow using adaptive mesh refinement algorithm
Abstract
Finite difference schemes that use adaptive mesh refinement are studied to solve an unsteady shock diffraction problem. In this paper, an axisymmetric calculation of a shock propagating from an open ended shock tube is performed to test the adequacy of the scheme. The results show that this algorithm is successful in capturing high resolutional solutions with shorter processing time than the corresponding uniform grid calculation.
