Calculation of the freezing of water vapor
Abstract
An analysis is made of the aerosol formation process in humid air flow in which liquid nitrogen is sprayed to freeze the water vapor. The analysis is based on the following assumptions: the volume of the sprayed nitrogen and of the formed aerosol is small in comparison with the volume of the vapor-gas mixture; the temperature of the aerosol particles is equal to that of the air; the solid aerosol particles are spherical; and the liquid nitrogen drops evaporate completely, with equilibrium established at the end of the process. The results confirm the practical value of water vapor freezing by cryogenic liquid spraying.
