Synchrotron radiation research and Finnish beamline at MAX-lab
Abstract
Basis characteristics of the synchrotron radiation, its generation and some of its applications are discussed. In order to provide better possibilities, especially for the Finnish photoemission research below 100 eV photon energy range, official cooperation with MAX laboratory, at the University of Lund, was initiated. The agreement involves financing and construction of the Finnish beamline with a high resolution monochromator at MAX lab. The beamlines and available experimental set ups for solid state as well as atomic and molecular physics measurements are described. Some examples of synchrotron radiation studies of atomic gases and metal vapors are presented.
