Calculation of noise emission caused by jet aircraft during takeoff, approach and horizontal flyover
Abstract
A prediction scheme for jet noise is applied for noise calculations. The results are discussed for the neighborhood of an airfield for which sound emission is shown in the form of contour plots. The noise reduction potential achievable by varying operational parameters is demonstrated and quantified. The variation of takeoff and landing procedures, the decrease of aircraft weight and flight Mach number, and the increase of the flight altitude are shown to possibly result in a partially substantial noise reduction.
