Two-objective optimization of laminate thin-walled structures
Abstract
The paper presents a strategy to optimize various noncoplanar laminate thin-walled structures. The optimization procedure is performed at two specially constructed levels for the purposes of minimization of the total weight and maximization of the globe stiffness of the structures. The FEM is used to obtain the structural response, and a search algorithm is adapted to find the optimal ply thickness and ply orientation of each lamina. Two numerical examples are given to illustrate the proposed scheme.
