Testing the nature of the f(0)(S asterisk)
Abstract
A way to distinguish regular quark model partonic compounds from molecular states in a model independent way is considered. The issue arises in evaluating the proposed K(bar-K) molecule assignment for f(0)(S asterisk) alias f(0)(975). A method whereby in favorable circumstances the above alternative can be distinguished by objective appeal to data is described. Applying this to existing data, f(0)(S asterisk) is concluded as unlikely to be a molecule.
