Some results of adding solar radiation pressure force to the restricted threebody problem
Abstract
This work explores the generation of bounded orbits in the Elliptic Restricted ThreeBody Problem (ER3BP), and some of the results of adding the solar radiation pressure force to the ER3BP are presented. The focus is limited to the equilibrium points defined in the SunEarth ER3BP. (These equilibrium points are also referred to as libration points or Lagrange points.) The addition of solar radiation pressure to the gravitational and centrifugal force structure alters the locations and conditions for linear stability of the equilibrium points in the SunEarth ER3BP. Solar radiation pressure also consequently affects the spacecraft orbits computed near these points. One equilibrium point in this threebody system is located between the Sun and the Earth; orbits near this point are the primary focus for the study of solar effects on the terrestrial environment and are therefore the orbits considered here.
