Can cosmic neutrinos be detected by bremsstrahlung from a metal?
Abstract
We examine the proposal of Loeb and Starkman to detect cosmic-background neutrinos by coherent bremsstrahlung from electrons in a neutral metal. We show that the positive ions in the metal exert a restoring force which suppresses the radiation by ~10-20.
