Optical Studies of Semiconductors
Abstract
Available from UMI in association with The British Library. This thesis reports photoluminescence and optically detected cyclotron resonance (ODCR) results of AlInAs layers. These are the first direct measurements of the conduction band electron effective mass value. For the first time in one experiment, both the electron and light hole cyclotron resonance have been observed in GaAs. Valence band quantum effects are resolved for the first time. The electron cyclotron resonance shows strong spin doublet splitting. Optical detected magnetic resonance and photovoltaic detected magnetic resonance in a-Si solar cells is also reported. From the PDMR results, good and bad solar cells can be distinguished.
