Thermal Diffusion Factor and Intermolecular Potential for Equimolar Mixtures of Noble Gases.
Abstract
The thermal diffusion factor for equimolar mixtures of He-Ar, He-Xe, and isotopic ^3He -^4He are reported. The alpha _{rm T} measurements are performed at low temperatures, from 300 K down to the boiling point of each system. The present results along with other available data are collected and a correlation function obtained by least squares regression analysis. Recently proposed intermolecular potentials for each system are studied as to their ability to reproduce the bulk properties. Independently derived pair potential functions are suggested for each system. The special quantal nature of the helium system is examined and is discussed.
