Anisotropy of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays
Abstract
Experimental data are presented on the directions of arrival of extensive air showers formed by cosmic rays of ultrahigh energies. For cosmic rays with energies of about 10 exp 19 eV, an anisotropy in the direction of arrival is observed from the side of the Galactic plane. The experimental data are consistent with the conclusion that cosmic rays with energies up to 4 x 10 exp 19 are mainly galactic, with the mean nuclear composition corresponding to z approximately equals 8.
