Application of a threecomponent model to the calculation of flow of suspensions of matter in gas and rarefied gases past bodies
Abstract
The possibility of using a simplified threecomponent (rather than fourcomponent) model for calculating flow of suspensions in gas past bodies is investigated in the case where the effect of the gas on particle motion can be neglected. Results of calculations of axisymmetric flow of solid particles past a sphere are presented. It is also shown that the model can be used to calculate flow of a rarefied gas past a body at Kn (an analog of the Knudsen number in rarefied gas dynamics) corresponding to the transition regime.
