Precession of the rotation axis of pulsar 1913+16.
Abstract
Data observed at a frequency of 1408 MHz are used to determine the precession parameters for PSR 1913 + 16. The precession angle is 25 deg, which is consistent with the notion that the binary system of neutron stars incorporating the pulsar was formed as a result of the explosion of the progenitor of the companion's star. The precession makes it possible to observe the entire region of radio wave generation in the magnetosphere of PSR 1913 + 16.
