Multifrequency observations of the T Tauri star RU Lupi.
Abstract
Multifrequency observations of the T Tauri star (TTS) RU Lupi were carried out in order to obtain a large set of physical parameters to be used either in testing the current models for TTSs or in developing new ones. Attention is given to the factors that prompted these observations, some examples of the many results obtained in different wavelength regions, and a tentative interpretation in terms of a protoplanetary accretion disk around a young star with a moderate global magnetic field. It is shown that the proposed model can reasonably fit the experimental data in a vast energy range. It is argued that the detection of the blueshifted O I 6300 A and S II 6717 and 6731 A forbidden lines favors the existence of a gas outflow.
