Phasespace beam summation for timeharmonic radiation from large apertures
Abstract
The simultaneous effect of configurationspectrum parameters on propagation and signalprocessing aspects (phasespace parameterizations) is applied to timeharmonic planeaperture distributions and to the corresponding fields radiated into a homogeneous halfspace. The parametrizations include nonwindowed continuum versions, in which localization occurs asymptotically through constructive interference; windowed continuum versions, in which localization is embedded inherently; and windowed discretized versions, in which the basis elements are located on a selfconsistent configurationwave number lattice. The localization properties are schematized in terms of region surrounding geometricradiation, diffractionradiation, and geometricalobservation lines in the phase space. The detailed study of a case of Gaussian windows elaborates and quantifies these general observations through the use of asymptotic and other approximations.
