An estimation of a vortex dynamo in the low-latitude magnetospheric boundary layer
Abstract
The effect of the vortex dynamo in the low-latitude magnetospheric boundary layer on the field-aligned current is estimated using a simple vortex model for the transport of the electromagnetic energy from the solar wind in the low-latitude magnetospheric boundary layer. Results provide an explanation of the diurnal flow pattern of field-aligned current as the duct propagation between the magnetosphere and the ionosphere.
