Wave propagation through the upper atmosphere during ionospheric modification
Abstract
Maxwell's equations are solved for the upper atmospheric medium during ionospheric modification enhanced by the propagation of high power radio waves. The form of the solutiom may be useful for numerical computations to calculate the fields at arbitrary distances from the source. From the governing equations, coupled equations are obtained from which the phenomenon of gradient coupling within the medium may be understood. The variation of normalized electron density with the change of propagation frequency and also the variation of electric field with height during the modified situation have been computed and presented graphically.
