Comet Arai (1991b)
Abstract
H. Kosai, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, telexes the photographic discovery of a new comet by Masaru Arai, as shown below: 1991 UT R.A. (1950) Decl. m1 Observer Jan. 5.634 8 54.5 +12 10 12 Arai 6.61840 8 52 15.09 +14 17 17.2 " 6.62708 8 52 13.84 +14 18 28.3 " 7.50659 8 50 07.38 +16 14 47.0 10 McNaught 7.66690 8 49 42.75 +16 36 04.5 " M. Arai (Yorii). Measured by Kosai (assisted by G. Sasaki). The Jan. 5 film, taken with a 0.16-m reflector, is overexposed and the image is near the edge of the frame. The Jan. 6 exposures were taken with a 0.30-m hyperboloid astrocamera. Comet diffuse with central condensation. R. H. McNaught (Siding Spring). Uppsala Southern Schmidt telescope. Comet strongly condensed; 2' coma.
