Diagnostics of processes of the excitation of plasma oscillations by the field of a high-power radio wave
Abstract
Multifrequency Doppler sounding was used to record local expulsion of plasma in the region of upper-hybrid resonance and near the reflection level of a high-power radio wave from the ionosphere. Local excitation of high-frequency plasma disturbances in these two regions of the ionosphere was found. The plasma disturbances in the first of these regions are significantly greater than those in the second, and develop with a certain time delay. The results obtained agree well with a model of two-stage plasma-turbulence excitation by a high-power radio wave as a result of the rapid development of striction instability and a slower generation of artificial irregularities of thermal origin.
