Possibility of describing the turbulent flows of a viscous fluid by a finitedimensional attractor
Abstract
Theoretical results are presented on the feasibility of using a finitedimensional attractor to describe the turbulent flows of a viscous fluid. Specifically, the results Priimak and Rozhdestvenskii's (1987) direct simulation of the steady turbulent flows of a viscous incompressible fluid in an infinite circular tube are used to evaluate the fractal dimension of the attractor of the NavierStokes equation and to examine its geometrical properties.
