Planetary remote sensing with the Galileo spacecraft
Abstract
The Galileo spacecraft, during its swing past Venus in February 1990 and past the earth and moon in December 1990, produced the first digital color images of the far side of the moon. Three of these images, in seven color channels, are shown and discussed. The scientific findings obtained from them are addressed.
