Do Shuttle exhaust gases harm the ozone layer? - The issue of environmental damage caused by space travel
Abstract
The effects of Shuttle exhaust gases on the earth's surface, on the troposphere, and on the stratosphere are discussed. Emphasis is given to the effects of these gases and that of all space travel on the stratospheric ozone chemistry. A comparison is made between the damage caused by chlorine and that due to nitric oxide.
